Sam did two fairly momentous things within a day of one another: walking and talking. On Tuesday, he for the first time used a word in context at the right time. He learned to say "Uh-oh" when he dropped something. And of course now, he purposely drops or throws things, looks at you, and says, "Uh oh!". Here's a video. His "Oh-oh" wasn't quite perfected yet...it's more of an "UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH oh". But he's been working on it since Tuesday, and trust me, he's got it. Good job, Sam!
Sam also took his first real steps. He's been holding on to things and walking assisted for a while now. But Wednesday, he walked between two things, taking a couple of steps. In the video here, which was shot only a few hours after those very first steps, he is already taking 4 steps! Wow! What a beast. Time to kick the baby-proofing into high gear. This is particularly exciting, because it means he might just be able to wander about somewhat reliably when we go on vacation in a couple of weeks, which would be fun for him. I'm not saying we're putting him on a trail at Yosemite or anything, but bobbling his way around a hotel room or something might be good times.

Yay for Sam! So exciting! But I'm a little nervous for Sam that he learned to walk right before staying at the least baby-proofed apartment in SF. Can't wait to see you guys! :)
