Road Trip in Review Part 2

For those of you still interested in the Pieroni vacation...

We then went to San Francisco, with a stop in Santa Cruz, although the camera remained in the car for that part. We had such a wonderful time meeting up with our dear friends who we haven't seen in forever!! Lori and Bryan were so gracious to let us stay with them. Here is Sam checking out the front door of their apartment. This will be his only trip to his lovely apartment as Lori and Bryan are moving to their new home next week, yeah!!!
Catching up with Lori. I know, no Sam is this picture, but it was so wonderful to see her again!!

Our friends had a wonderful get together for us, sadly no pictures from that either. We really appreciated it though. Sam hopes to be just like Joey someday!!!

We went to the California Science Center with Lori, Jessi and her darling baby Calla. Sam had a great time. He seemed to notice the animals and loved riding around in his pack. Not the best shot of us, but we are all here, minus Jake who took the picture :)

Sam visiting with Daddy's friend Matt again. Matt and Jake met up in SF and went to a local dive on Clement street, or was it Geary :) ?

Road trip in review Part 1

Back on the blog. Sorry for the super long delay. We had a wonderful roadtrip last month. I will post it in parts so it won't be the longest and more boring entry ever!

Not sure what we were thinking planning a long road trip with a 10 month old :) Sam was great though, only had one really rough patch in the car. The bee who made it into our vehicle did not help matters.

First stop UCSB, hanging out in the student union

We then went on to San Luis Obispo. Budget traveling meant no fancy hotels. This is the lovely crib at the Econolodge. Not quite sure what I was expecting, but not this thing. It looked like an orphanage crib. Obvioulsy the first time we had have Sam at a hotel :) Even after cleaning it, still way too funky!

Exploring dowtown San Luis Obispo on Daddy's back.
Thank you to Renee and Matt for lending us this wonderful pack. We still have it, hopefully they won't come after us!

and playing with the train table at a toystore in SLO, Sam's favortie part of the stop.

Road Trip Commences

It's 6:58am on Saturday 9/19/09, and holy crap, we're about to leave...ON TIME. This is beyond incredible. There will be nothing more fantastic to report about this trip than this simple fact. I am beside myself. Bye bye.

Two big firsts in a row

Sam did two fairly momentous things within a day of one another: walking and talking. On Tuesday, he for the first time used a word in context at the right time. He learned to say "Uh-oh" when he dropped something. And of course now, he purposely drops or throws things, looks at you, and says, "Uh oh!". Here's a video. His "Oh-oh" wasn't quite perfected yet...it's more of an "UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH oh". But he's been working on it since Tuesday, and trust me, he's got it. Good job, Sam!

Sam also took his first real steps. He's been holding on to things and walking assisted for a while now. But Wednesday, he walked between two things, taking a couple of steps. In the video here, which was shot only a few hours after those very first steps, he is already taking 4 steps! Wow! What a beast. Time to kick the baby-proofing into high gear. This is particularly exciting, because it means he might just be able to wander about somewhat reliably when we go on vacation in a couple of weeks, which would be fun for him. I'm not saying we're putting him on a trail at Yosemite or anything, but bobbling his way around a hotel room or something might be good times.

Fun times with old friends...

Sam had so much fun when Michele game to town with her two darling kids Ava and Major. We met up at Poliwog and had a great afternoon. Uncle Aaron even stopped by, sorry there is no pic of you Uncle Aaron!

Thanks for making time for us Michele, your kids are great!!

Big boy jammies!!

We got these PJs for one of my showers. I remember thinking they were so big, Sam will never wear anything that large. Here he is, his first night in two piece PJs. No zipper or snaps, just pants and a shirt. He looked so grown up to us. Now if he only could get the haircut Jake is pushing for, he will look even older!!

The best kind of toys...

are the FREE ones!!

Sam scored these toys from his Gramma and Grandpa's neighbors. They have a rental house and said that the family who was staying there for the week had bought a bunch of toys when the arrived and left them all when they flew home. Wouldn't it be nice to be rich like that ? :) The Pieroni family made out well as these two items are Sam's current favorites!

Don't worry Jake is not naked in this picture. Just shirtless since it is so hot!
