Follow up to the water...
I just realized that water is advertised as "specially formulated..." How does one formulate water? Also, noticed that is fortified with all the fluoride that Sam needs to help all the teeth he has (two).
Papa returns to the blogosphere
I had to get back up in the blog scene if only for this afternoon. After deciding to leave work at a reasonable hour in order to actually enjoy having a family, I arrived home to find the lad asleep, and an abomination typical of our consumer lifestyle upon our kitchen counter. I took one picture, and am here only to post it, write a brief prologue which you are reading now, and let the picture speak for itself:

Yeah...it's baby water. You should know that we have a built in spigot in our kitchen that shoots out as much purified water as a household and its various armies could ever need. Yet we need to purchase a separate vat of purified water specifically for Sam. I'm still not sure why. So far, the best answer I've gotten is that "all the moms like it". Why are the moms drinking it? I thought it was baby water.

Rescue Me!!!
Last weekend Jake, Sam and I tried to go to the UCLA Festival of the Books. We were very excited and had been looking forward to it for months. This year Eric Carle was there. For those of you who have no idea who he is, he wrote The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This was one of Marne's favorite books as a child and we love to read it to Sam. We were so excited to see him and have him sign a book for Sam.
We were about a mile from UCLA when the Civic died. Thank goodness Jake was driving. The transmission went out. It was totally dead. No exactly the type of financial undertaking we were expecting during our first month on one income.
The AAA people came to tow the car but as we are quickly learning everything is more complicated with a baby. Sam's carseat could not go in the tow truck. Thank goodness for Lan and Doug for coming to our rescue. They drove to come get us, then braved the 405 to follow to tow truck to the South Bay. Then home to our house. What wondeful friends. It had been too long since we have seen them and they hadn't met Sam yet. Something good came out of our sad tale, we had a nice time catching up with them!!
Sorry Lan, there is no picture of you and Sam, but here is Sam and one of his rescuers Doug!!

Highchairs are lame!!
In an effort to help Sam feel like a big boy, we set up his highchair last weekend. Jake and I were excited about it. Sadly Sam was not. It is both of his least favorite things in one, being strapped in and sitting down. I asked Jake if he could make it a "high stand", sadly no!
Putting up quite a fuss about this new chair.
Trying to make a break for it!

Swatting in protest of his new situation. Poor Sam!

All strapped in. Daddy looking quite proud of his work. Sam looked less ticked off. Or maybe he had just given in.
His first "meal" in the new chair. Sophie leg, his favorite treat!!

Time with Daddy and Granddaddies!!
Sammy loves his Daddy so much!! Here are so nice shots of time with his Daddy.

Sporting my new overalls from my friend Joel, thanks Joel!
Hand in my pocket before heading out to the cold. Another favorite outfit from Auntie Lori and and Uncle Bryan. This outfit is so cute. He was wearing the entire outfit, beanie and hood included!!

Flying high with Daddy. Sam loves to have heads on his belly. It makes him laugh so much. Thanks for Grammy O for discovering this trick!!
Reading Hop on Pop. This was one of Jake's favorite books as a kid so was excited to read it to his own boy. This copy was Marne's that is why it is kind of beat up looking. Notice all the drool on Dad's shirt!

What a lucky boy to also have two loving Grandads! Getting to spend time with both of them!!

New faces on Sam's blog
It was not Sam's first time meeting any of these family members, but the first time we got a good shot of them.

Sam with his cousin Molly. She is great with babies and he sure loved her. I know Molly is not officialy his first cousin but the "second cousin" and "first cousin once removed" thing always messes me up.

First time in Aunt Cara's arms!!! My Auntie Cara lives in San Diego so sadly I have not been able to see her as much as I'd like. Auntie Cara is not a huge fan of holding small babies. Guess I am robust enough now for her to feel comfortable holding me :)

Sam with his cousin Jake. Now Jake really is his first cousin, that much I know. Jake loves babies and is so good with them. He plays so great with Sam and loves to hold him whenever he gets the chance. Jake is such a super reader, hopefully he will help Sam learn someday!

Baby Torture Part 2
Don't worry this is not a sad picture or story. Jake came up with this clever caption when we had our first reunion with our Childbirth Class friends. We had our second reunion a few weeks ago. Although it was not as well attended as the first, we had to take another group shot. This time they are in the Bumbo chairs. Except for Amelia, the token girl baby lounging in front!

Sam trying to get in good with Amelia. She is quite a beautiful lady, Sam was quite taken with her. She seemed to be interested in him too!
